DEC. 3rd, 2016, New York, NY – Be My Oswald returns to the Zukor Theatre for one evening only. First screened in 2006, at the Zukor Theatre, Be My Oswald enjoyed a wonderful 18 month festival run with screenings in Wales, Toronto, South Africa, LA, Oregon and Manhattan and Queens. A polarizing work that incorporates 13 types of media and takes place largely in a single location, the film sparked highly charged conversations after every screening and reviews that ran the gamut from love letters to hate pieces.

According to Don Cato “You can show unspeakable horrors, exploit all levels of our society, shoot people in the back during routine traffic stops, but mess with Santa and there is hell to pay.”

For 7 years the Catos have headed the Queens World Film Festival, often asking filmmakers to submit their most challenging work. They are calling this screening the Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is Tour!

The film centers on 2 characters – ‘A’ played by Jeannie Noth Gaffigan and ‘B’ played by Katha Cato. The women met when Jeannie enrolled in the improve class that Katha was teaching for the Denny Albee studios in the mid 1990’s. The film is loosely suggested by the play Menaced Assassin and the film rights were obtained by Don Cato after the play appeared in the New York City Fringe Festival. He completely reworked the material and cast Katha and Jeannie in the leads. Now Jeannie is married to comedienne Jim Gaffigan and they recently wrote and produced the Jim Gaffigan Show, originally on TV Land and now on hulu. Katha is the Executive Director of the Queens World Film Festival with the 7th annual festival slated to return to MoMI March 14 – 19.

The screening is at the historic Zukor Theatre, recently restored by Kaufman Astoria Studios and now a viable screening venue in Queens.

A decade has passed since the film’s first screening and considering the landscape that we now find ourselves, taking down a myth seems like something we should all consider.
